Cigarette butts are made from 12,000 plastic microfibres called cellulose acetate – which never breaks down in the environment. These microplastics cause harm to our drinking water sources, wildlife, and the health of ecosystems.
Join us on Saturday, June 3 from 10:00am-2:00pm for a city-wide Butt Blitz to tackle cigarette litter!
There will be 7 cleanup and drop-off locations:
- Concession Street BIA – 534 Concession St, Hamilton
- Downtown BIA – Downtown Hamilton BIA Office – Unit 104, 20 Hughson St. S., Hamilton
- International Village BIA – 195 Main St. E., Hamilton

Equipment needed to participate safely will be provided. If you have your own reusable gloves we encourage you to bring them to help decrease waste!
