This year, Hamilton Day falls on Halloween, making it the perfect excuse to celebrate local in costume. We’re embracing the ghostly season with themed events, festive experiences, and family-friendly fun across the city.

What is Hamilton Day?

Hamilton Day is an annual initiative of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, held on the first weekend in November. The event invites local and regional visitors to experience Hamilton’s vibrant culture, explore its diverse neighbourhoods, and shop at the city’s retailers, cafes, restaurants, bars, theatres, artists and musicians, florists, gyms and fitness studios, personal services, entertainment venues, and specialty shops.

First launched in 1931 during the Great Depression to lift spirits and boost the local economy, Hamilton Day was revived 90 years later in response to the pandemic, becoming an annual tradition due to overwhelming community support.

Today, Hamilton Day is a city-wide celebration of small business, creativity, and community pride. With experiences across the city, it offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore Hamilton’s neighbourhoods and culture. Recognized as one of Ontario’s Top 100 Events by Festivals and Events Ontario, it continues to grow as a signature showcase of the city’s spirit.
